Today is a holiday. One of the 2 Independence Days of Lithuania (my homeland). This day in 1918 the Act of Independence of Lithuania was signed.
Lithuania sure likes to be independent. In 1991 leaving the Soviet Union, joining the European Union on May 1st, 2004.
We just can’t survive on our own.
Not that I don’t like us being a part of EU, I think it’s great, that I have the option to travel, work study in a lot of countries without a visa. But isn’t it kind of hypocritical to be proud of our independence so much, when we clearly need a daddy-country to give us money?
Anyway, Happy Independence Day, everybody!
